Communicate what makes your brand different.
For founder-led wellness brands who want customers to understand the knowledge, care and craftsmanship behind their products.
You know how much thought goes into your business.
You know why you chose one ingredient over another, how your values influence the way you make your products, and what you want your customers to feel when they use them.
When a customer is skimming a product page, packaging or social media post, much of that information can be missed. They can only respond to the parts of your work they notice and understand.
I help founder-led wellness brands communicate the ingredients, values, knowledge and stories behind their products. Research-led botanical illustration is the medium I use to make those things visible.

Helping customers understand ingredients, values and expertise
What are you trying to communicate?
Your customers do not understand why you chose a particular ingredient.
The science behind your formulation takes too much technical language to explain.
Your packaging does not reflect the care involved in making the product.
Your website lists the plants you use without communicating why they matter.
You know how you want the brand to feel, but that feeling is not coming across consistently.
These are communication questions. Botanical illustration gives us another way to answer them.
Why botanical illustration?
Photography records what something actually looks like.
An illustration is informed by what needs to be communicated.
Research into the plant, your products, your customers and the purpose of the artwork leads the design. It helps me decide what to emphasise, what to simplify and what needs to be brought together.
That might mean showing the part of a plant that helps someone recognise it, combining several ingredients used in one formulation, or creating a visual connection between the botanical ingredients and the science behind the product.
Illustration can also give your brand a consistent visual language across packaging, educational content, websites and printed material.
The question guiding the work is straightforward:
What do you want your customer to understand?

How I work
Before I draw anything, I need to understand your business.
I want to know what matters to you, what your customers ask about, what you find yourself explaining repeatedly, and what you have struggled to communicate to them.
A relaxed, informal conversation usually uncovers useful details that would be difficult to capture in a standard list of deliverables.
I then research the botanicals and consider how the illustrations will be used. Their structure, history, traditional uses and relationship with your products may all inform the work.
Some of that research will be visible in the finished illustration. Some of it helps me decide what to include, what to simplify and what would distract from the point.
You bring your knowledge of the business, its values and its customers. I bring research, storytelling and visual problem-solving. We collaborate to decide what the illustrations need to communicate.
Illustration has a purpose. Otherwise, it is art.
Guide prices
Illustration prices depend on the number and complexity of the illustrations, the research involved, the intended use and the licence required.
A small illustration used on a website is a different project from a collection created for product packaging. These ranges are here to help you judge the likely level of investment before enquiring.

Start with your business
You do not need to arrive knowing which illustrations to commission.
The enquiry form asks about your business, your values, your customers and what you are trying to communicate.
I will review your answers and consider whether botanical illustration is a useful fit. Where it is, I will recommend a scope, explain what it includes, provide a realistic delivery period and prepare a proposal with the price and licensing clearly set out.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Commissioned illustrations are licensed according to the agreed commercial use, giving you exclusive artwork created specifically for your brand.
Illustrations from the Botanical Illustration Library are supplied under one straightforward non-exclusive commercial licence. The licence includes worldwide use across print and digital applications, making it easy to start using the artwork immediately.
-
All you need is a rough brief.
A sense of where you want to use the work, and a general timeline is enough to start a conversation. You do not need a fully formed brief before you get in contact.
-
Commissioned illustrations are always exclusive to your brand.
Illustrations licensed from the Botanical Library are non-exclusive, any brand who has purchased a license can use that illustration.
-
Yes. Every project includes a clear licensing agreement explaining exactly how the illustrations can be used. Whether you're commissioning original artwork or licensing from the Botanical Illustration Library, you'll know what is included before work begins.
Typical uses include packaging, websites, social media, email marketing and printed materials.
-
Yes, I work with brands internationally. All communication is handled remotely, and licensing is calculated appropriately for the territory of use.
-
We go through rounds of approval for several stages for each illustration to make sure we are both on the same page and the final artwork is something you love.
1st round of review is composition.
2nd/ 3rd rounds of review are levels of detail and colour.
If you're not satisfied:
Email me within 7 days of delivery with specific feedback. I'll make revisions based on your brief. If the illustration fundamentally doesn't match your original request due to miscommunication, I'll redraw it at no extra cost.
In the rare event that revisions haven't resolved the issue, we can discuss options together.
The goal is always to deliver botanical art you're genuinely happy to use. Clear communication and sketch approval process prevents most issues before final delivery.

Research is an essential part of my illustration process. Understanding not just what a plant looks like, but how it grows, how it has been used and what makes it significant helps me decide which details your customers need to see.
Along the way I discover plenty of fascinating botanical stories, which I share in The Herbarium.
-
Photography is excellent at showing a finished product. Botanical illustration is better at explaining what makes that product different.
Illustration lets us emphasise the details that matter, simplify complex ingredients and create a consistent visual language across your brand. Rather than documenting exactly what is there, it helps your customers notice what is important.
It also communicates something about your brand itself. In a market where AI-generated imagery is becoming increasingly common, visibly human-made illustration reflects the care, craftsmanship and attention to detail that many wellness brands want to communicate.
-
Most founders know what they want customers to understand before they know exactly what should be illustrated. That's completely normal.
We begin by talking about your product, your audience and what you're trying to communicate. From there, I research the relevant plants and work with you to decide which botanical subjects, compositions and level of detail will communicate your message most effectively.
You don't need to arrive with a fully developed art direction. Working that out together is part of the process.
-
Yes. Botanical illustration can become part of the conversation early in the branding process. If you're still refining your packaging or visual identity, we can discuss how illustration might support those decisions before any artwork is created.
